my friend's wedding

So, many things happen in the past year. We started our new life in New York City; we made some good new friends; Randy lost his studio (happily, in a way); he started working at home; and I opened up an online shop.

Among the good things, there was my good friend Helen's wedding. With complicated circumstances, we couldn't make it - this was one of my big disappointments this year.

Helen was Randy's printmaking student in Boston & that's how I got to know her. She's one of the nicest people I know. If you could ever humanize the words goodkind, and thoughtful that'd be her - well, at least for me it is. She is a good girl, and what's more, her egg salad sandwich is really good.

I had her invitation up on my fridge for a long time because it was one of the most special mails I've received. It was all hand-screenprinted by her (she's a hard worker, too!). It spoke her language in every way. Randy looked at the cards and said, "I don't wanna mail back this RSVP. It's too nice. Just make a copy and send that back!"

I imagine her wedding was as beautiful & sunny as she is.

Congratulations, Helen & Chris!

it's christmas time...

Went to Bloomingdale's with Kiliko in the afternoon because my sister gave me a gift card from this department store. (Yes, she's a nice sister & she has a good full-time job, but still, it was very generous of her to gift me like that, when I've given her nothing, well maybe a couple of greeting cards, in the recent years.)

It was filled with this crazy mood from the crowd: "oh no, only a week from Christmas & we gotta finish shoppin'!" type of mood. This was a moment I really felt that NYC is based on the consuming life. It was very interesting.

I browsed, but it was such a different world from where I usually am, so for a while Kili & I went up & down the stairs and just wondered through the crowd and products. Then, we went up to the 6th floor to the home fashion. There, Kili found this:

Allesi Cico eggcup!

How an eggcup can be any cuter? The hat is a salt shaker. She was really excited & since I didn't find anything else, I decided to get it. I'm more of a utilitarian, and this is totally unnecessary, but I just wanted Kili to have little happy moments when she eats her boiled egg, which is among her favorite foods. I guess I was pushed by the christmasy atmosphere & the idea that it was a gift from my sister; I got something fun like this for a change - not grocery or things we need.

Hope you are having a wonderful season!

my online shop!

I'm so pleased to announce that I have an online shop for my greeting cards now!!
I've been making those cards for a while now, but didn't really have a place to sell them. Now, they are available in two places: at the Creators' Co-Op, Astoria, NY, and this little cyber shop, with which I can sell my cards to people pretty much in anywhere of the world. It's pretty amazing.

Many thanks to Randy, who worked hard to have this up!

Creators' Co-op this Saturday

I went to drop off some stands for my greeting cards today at the Creators' Co-op.
Kazuki quickly arranged my stuff on the stands and it looked great! Shop was looking cheerly with its orange walls and colorful products. I was surprised people were constantly coming in and out of this little shop - that's great.

Kili always has a nice time at the store, too. It's just really welcoming. Hope you make it there.

T-shirts - so far, "Mmm, Mmm, Bad!" is the #1 seller.

Store is looking full and good.
My favorite shot of our special little shop. It's just happy and cozy.

Aya's hat

My baby sis Aya is really good at knitting. This is a new hat she made for me this winter. It has a small brim and that makes it unique. My husband is wearing her hat, too. K is wearing a hat knitted by my the other sister. We are so lucky we have such crafty sisters who keeps us toasty.

Simpson's dinner

When I don't have motivation to cook, I do this:

babyNOIR & Oktoberfest
